The Government is asking parents to keep children at home whenever possible – schools remain open only for children who need to attend.

Mr Ford

Senior Leader and Head of Mathematics

Having attended the predecessor school as a student it was a privilege to return as a teacher of mathematics in 2010; Brownhills High School gave me, my brother and my sister some fantastic opportunities whilst we studied here. Brownhills helped us to develop academically through great teaching but also socially through the excellent experiences and extracurricular activities that we took part in. I believe that every young person deserves the chance to develop their confidence, beliefs and aspirations whilst in education, none more so than the young people in our local community.

After my first five years at the Academy where I learnt my trade of maths teaching, I took over as the Head of the Numeracy Faculty in 2015. It is an absolute pleasure to lead such an innovative, committed team of professionals. The maths team have such a positive impact on the teaching of mathematics but we also care deeply about the holistic development of our young people. The recent exam results show that the department is going from strength to strength and raising our students’ achievement to new heights every year.

I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity of a secondment onto the Senior Leadership Team this year. It will allow me to experience what makes this academy so great beyond the subject of maths. I am very proud to work at the Co-op Academy; we have an amazing building but it’s the people within the building that sets this academy aside from the rest.
