Important transition information
As your son/daughter will be starting Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent in September, I would like to take this opportunity to confirm the transition arrangements. The move to secondary school is a major step and we take great care to ensure that parents and students have opportunities to visit and get to know the Academy.
New Intake Days
As part of our transition programme, on Wednesday 10th July and Thursday 11th July 2019, your child will spend two days at the academy where they will need to arrive at the academy’s main reception between for 9.00am wearing their current primary school uniform. All the transition students will be dismissed at 3.00pm on both days. Your son/daughter will work with pupils from other primary schools and meet some of our staff so that they will feel more confident when they join us in September 2019.
School lunch will be available on both days. We operate a cafeteria system whereby children can purchase food from a wide range of hot meals or snacks on offer. The Academy ‘Meal Deal’ costs £2.50, which provides your child with a main meal, dessert and drink. Please ensure that your child has the money to purchase a meal or alternatively, they may wish to bring a packed lunch and facilities are provided where these may be eaten. Arrangements will be made for students receiving free school meals on the day.
New Intake Parents’ Evening
On the evening of Thursday 11th July 2019, you are invited to come along to our New Intake Parents’ Evening where you will be able to meet some key staff including Form Tutors, learn about
the exciting arrangements for September in our new building.
The table at the bottom of this letter will indicate by primary school which appointment time you are to attend.
You will also have the opportunity to collect a voucher that entitles you to receive free of charge uniform for the academy.
You will also be required to complete a student data sheet, please make sure that you come prepared with all relevant contact information i.e. mobile number and email address. The Academy now accepts payments online for dinner money by using a secure website called ‘Parentpay’. On the evening of the 11th July there will be the opportunity to logon to Parentpay and create your account as there will be staff available to assist with this process.
A note for your diary…
The Year 6 students are invited to attend a Year 6 and Year 7 disco on Friday 12th July 2019 from 4.30pm to 6.00pm here at the Academy. Tickets will be £1 payable on entrance and there will be drinks and snacks available to purchase. This will replace the proposed date for the disco of Friday 7th June 2019 which we have now cancelled.
