Welcome to our Open Evening

Welcome to our Open Evening

“To build a strong academy and strong community we need the best people on our side. That’s why we want you.”

To every Year 5 and Year 6 pupil and all of their families, welcome to Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent. Normally you would now be embarking on a tour with one of our amazing Co-op Young Leaders around our academy, visiting every department and talking to staff. You would be no doubt stopping in Creative Technology to make a key-ring using our 3D Printer; visiting Performance to design a bookmark, hit the drums, watch a live performance or take part in an exciting sport session; entering the magical world of English to see books come to life; conducting amazing Science experiments; using your Maths skills to navigate Diagon Alley; experiencing life during war time and natural disasters with Humanities; sampling our fantastic food and much much more.

Don’t worry. We might not not be able to welcome you into our academy as we normally do…but we can bring our Open Evening to you, in the comfort of your own home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together.

We are ambitious for all of our students and have the highest expectations of what they can achieve both academically and as young people.  We pride ourselves on making sure that whatever the talent, ability, or interest, every child has the opportunity to realise their potential.

Great Learning

A great curriculum is more than a set of traditional subjects. It should include trips to museums and galleries, rivers and forests. It should give students the chance to play sport and to serve the community.

Great Support

Our pastoral care, based in the iZone, is rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Because we care. Because we have a richly diverse and inclusive academy community and we make sure everyone’s voice is heard. Our team of specialists make sure that the wellbeing and safety of our students is always the top priority.

Some of our students have ‘Special Educational Needs and Disability’ (SEND). This may mean they need extra help and support. By providing this we help those students integrate with the academy community.

Great Experience

We have our award winning Co-op Young Leaders Programme that allows students to gain fantastic experience in leadership, team-work and communication skills. Students lead sessions with local primary schools and have opportunities to present to large audiences.

For our Gifted and Talented students, we have our Scholars Programme. The Scholars Programme gives students access to topics and subjects that you would not experience in the normal curriculum. The habit that we want students to embrace is the love of learning for learning’s sake. This access to a rich and deep knowledge through the Scholars Programme will put you on a par with the best students anywhere in the country. Students within this programme have gone on to apply for places at Eton.

We are proud to be at the heart of our community, and we are proud to give back to our community. We have made a Co-op commitment, and we live our Co-op values every day, and we want you to be our future pioneers.

We are very proud of our Transition Programme that has allowed us to build great relationships with our local primary schools. We host events and sessions for pupils so they can get a real feel for what life at the academy is about.
