Since qualifying as a teacher of English in 2004 I have worked in a variety of schools across the Midlands and north of England. In all of the schools in which I have served, I have had the great privilege to teach English to some fantastic young people, and to watch them grow into confident citizens ready to take their place in the wider world. From working as a Head of English, an Advanced Skills Teacher, and Specialist Leader in Education, I have worked in a diverse range of schools, always with the same goal in mind: to secure the very best teaching and learning experiences for young people by working collaboratively with students, staff and parents. As an Assistant Headteacher, my focus was on strategically raising achievement to help students deliver on their exceptional potential. Upon joining the Academy as Vice Principal my focus was to work with everyone in the Academy community to ensure every student experiences great teaching, so that they are empowered to be the very best that they can be. 

Ultimately, our role as teachers is a privileged one: we get to support young people to give life to their hopes and aspirations. That is the power of education, and one we, as teachers, have been given the opportunity to harness, so that the ambitions that each child harbours today, can become their future reality.
