I was appointed in 1996 as a temporary English Teacher at the predecessor school Brownhills High School. After a year I was promoted to Assistant Head of Key Stage 4, taking on a pastoral role with Year 10. I continued to work in this area, achieving several promotions to Head of Year, Head of Lower School and then finally Head of Upper School.

I became Acting Assistant Headteacher in 2007 and was then appointed Assistant Vice Principal when the Academy opened in September 2010. In 2014 I became Vice Principal and was honoured to receive my current promotion as Senior Deputy Headteacher in 2017. 

My role and responsibilities have changed considerably over the years, from a nurturing caring role as a Head of Year to a more strategic focus on students’ achievement and progress.  In my current role I feel that I have been at the heart of shaping the life chances for all students. I love my job. Working with young people; helping them to believe in themselves and reach their full potential is the reason I became a teacher.
