Footballing Masterclass By Year 10
A weekend that saw a last-minute winner from a goal-keeper and crowds back for the FA Cup final, also saw eight of our Year 10 students achieve football success of their own.
“It was great to see football in person again. It was even better to support and cheer on students from our academy.”Teacher of English Mr. Rashid
‘Big’ Liam; ‘Ibu’ Ibrahim; Josh ‘Baresi’; ‘Big’ Joel; ‘Trent Alexander’ Rohaan; ‘The Welsh Wizard’ Leo; Shad ‘Sancho’ and ‘Cristiano’ Jenson represent Bradwell Yellows Under-15s who participate in the North Staffs Junior Youth League. And on Sunday morning they put in a performance both Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp would have been proud of.
Roared on by a crowd of teachers, parents and fellow students, the young men found themselves 2-1 down at half-time despite a spirited display. But they proved themselves to be mentality monsters as they produced a thrilling comeback to run out 4-2 winners.
“It was a great performance from the team. It’s important to show support for our students, whether its academy-based activities or external activities and they should be proud of how they played and conducted themselves.”Teacher of Maths Mr. Riaz
Jenson showed his predatory instincts in front of goal with an incredible hat-trick whilst Rohaan also got his name on the scoresheet in a fantastic team performance.
Head of Year 10 Mr. Ahmed said: “The football on show was of breath-taking quality – an absolute privilege to watch. These young men showcase the values of our academy not just when they wear their academy uniform, but when they participate in events outside of the academy.”
Well done to all of the students – and to all parents, carers and staff who went to show their support.
