Lara receives the Emma Murray Award

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

What is the Emma Murray Award?

The Emma Murray Award is a special award that a nominated student receives each year. It is in memory of one of our most beloved members of staff who sadly passed away after a battle with cancer. Emma was an English teacher at the academy and was held in the highest esteem by her friends and colleagues. Emma was also one of our most popular teachers with students. She had a profound impact on all those that she taught because of her loving and caring nature. Emma truly cared for the people with whom she worked and through her legacy and this award students’ kindness can be acknowledged and celebrated in the way that Emma would have wanted it to be.

This year’s winner.

This year’s winner is Year 10 student Lara, who received numerous nominations from our staff at the academy. Lara is a true role model within our academy community as someone who always puts the needs of others before her own. Lara’s kindness is infectious and she constantly goes out of her way to help those who need help. Lara is an asset to our academy and community. Always smiling, always happy, Lara is a very worthy recipient of this year’s award. Well done Lara!
