Belmiro’s Co-op Journey – From Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent to Co-op Legal Services

At Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent, we are always proud to see our students take their next steps and continue to live the Ways of Being Co-op beyond their time with us. One incredible example of this is Belmiro Nascimento, who left the Academy in 2018 and has since built a career within the Co-op family, now working as a Case Manager at Co-op Legal Services.
After leaving the Academy, Belmiro furthered his education at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he developed his knowledge and skills before embarking on his professional journey. His dedication to learning and growing reflects the values we instil in all our students, and we are thrilled to see him thriving in his career.
Our former Headteacher and now Regional Director, Mr. Lowry, met Belmiro at 1 Angel Square, Co-op’s headquarters, and was delighted to see him excelling in his role. A photo of Belmiro from his time at the Academy is even displayed in the building—a testament to the lasting connection between Co-op students and the wider Co-op community.
Belmiro’s journey highlights the power of education, opportunity, and Co-op values. The skills and confidence he developed at the Academy and through higher education have helped shape his career, and his commitment to succeeding together and doing what matters most has guided him along the way. His story is also a fantastic example of the importance of high-quality careers education, something we prioritise at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent to ensure all our students are informed, inspired, and equipped for their futures.
His younger brother, currently in Year 10, is following in his footsteps, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him, too.
This is what a Co-op education is all about—creating opportunities, inspiring ambition, and empowering young people to go on and shape the world around them. We are so proud to see Belmiro flourishing and look forward to celebrating many more Co-op success stories in the years to come!
