Year 9 Girls Excel in InnovateHer Programme

Before Christmas, a group of Year 9 girls from Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent completed the InnovateHer Programme, a six-week initiative designed to inspire young women to explore careers in technology and STEM.

Throughout the programme, the girls explored coding, cyber security, and career mapping, while connecting with inspiring role models from the tech world. It was incredible to see their confidence and ambitions grow over the six weeks. At the start of the programme, only 27% of the students saw themselves pursuing a career in STEM. By the end, that number had soared to 89%, showing just how impactful the experience had been.

Visitors were impressed by the girls’ enthusiasm and welcoming attitudes, commenting on how much they enjoyed engaging with the students. By the final week, the girls were confidently sharing their future plans, with some even setting their sights on becoming CEOs. Their excitement and newfound belief in their potential were truly inspiring.

A huge thank you to InnovateHer for delivering such a fantastic programme and helping our students to see the possibilities for their futures in the world of technology. We are incredibly proud of the Year 9 girls and can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
