Volunteering and Post-16 Options

Throughout your time at the Academy, we will be helping you to develop the skills you need to enter the world of work as well as helping you find out what pathway will most suit your skills and interests.

Finding your Career pathway can be seen as a daunting experience but don’t worry, here at the Academy we will be on hand to help you.

There is plenty of information on the Academy website about what to expect during your time at the Academy as well as information about your post-16 options so take a look around. College and Sixth form open evening dates and times can be found in the post-16 section.

All students in year 11 have access to a 1:1 interview, but all students can speak to Anna, our Careers Advisor at any point during their time at the Academy.

Volunteering

When you leave the Academy in Year 11 you will be facing increasing levels of competition from other students from across the City and further afield when looking for college placements, apprenticeships, and jobs with training.

Being able to set yourself apart from the rest of the crowd is vital in attaining your preferred place, this is where volunteering can be really helpful. By volunteering you are showing you have a commitment to do something outside your normal day-to-day activities. It also shows you are happy to work with others, work hard and adapt to changing circumstances.

We have a database of volunteering opportunities for students ranging from charity shops and retail to gardening and playwork.

If a student is interested in volunteering or has a specific career in mind, we can help find a suitable placement, assist with completing the relevant forms and source any references and equipment.

Please contact Ms Williamson (olivia.williamson@coopacademies.co.uk) or Ms Goodwin (kayleigh.goodwin@coopacademies.co.uk) for further information.
