What are Induction Days?
Induction Days are some of the best days on the calendar! We love welcoming our new students before they join us officially.
We welcome our incoming Year 7s for two days at the beginning of July so they can get to know the Academy.
One day is dedicated to getting used to life at secondary school. Students will get the chance to meet their Year Manager, Head of Year and other key staff. You get the chance to learn more about routines at the Academy so they're fully prepared to join us in September.
The second day is dedicated to getting to know the other people in your year group. You will take part in a variety of fun and competitive team-building activities.
Are there other ways that Co-op Academy gets to know its new students?
We are lucky to have strong working relationships with all of our feeder schools. Our transition lead visits during the Summer Term to meet our incoming students and get to know more about them, as well as ensuring they have a friendly face that they recognise from the first minute they arrive on the Induction Day.
Are there chances for parents/carers to visit as part of the Induction process?
Absolutely! Every year we host a Community Evening to which parents of our incoming Year 7s are invited, and we also hold an Induction Evening which goes through some of the key information ahead of students' arrival in September.
Does induction continue into Year 7?
Of course! We continue the induction process in a variety of ways, including a staggered start, meaning year 7 get used to being in the Academy before the older year groups return.
